Large breed growth

Boxer Puppy Weight Chart and Calculator

An adult Boxer usually weighs 50 to 80 lb (23 to 36 kg). Use the calculator for a personal estimate, or check the chart below to see whether your puppy is on track.

Weigh your puppy on the same scale each time. Ages under 8 weeks are less reliable, because very young puppies grow at different speeds.

How Boxers grow

Bouncy, playful and very patient with kids. As a large breed, a Boxer is roughly half grown at about 5 months and reaches adult size at around 18 to 24 months. Boxers reach their height around a year old but keep adding muscle until about two.

Feed a Boxer puppy a food labeled for large-breed puppies (or "all life stages including growth of large size dogs"). These foods control calcium and calories so bones grow at a steady pace, which lowers the risk of hip and elbow problems.

Is my Boxer puppy underweight or overweight?

The scale only tells half the story. Check your puppy's body condition: you should be able to feel the ribs easily under a thin layer of fat, and see a waist when you look down from above. A puppy that tracks low on the chart but has good energy and body condition is usually just going to be a smaller adult. Talk to your vet if your puppy stops gaining for more than two weeks, loses weight, or has persistent diarrhea.
