When howling is normal
Dogs howl to locate the group, to answer another howl, and to mark excitement. A short session after a walk or when another dog starts is ordinary. Pair it with a loose body and a normal appetite before you worry.

The howl often stops when the siren fades. If your dog instead hides, trembles, or cannot settle, treat the sound as a fear trigger and talk to the veterinarian about that pattern, not about “wolf DNA.”
