The corn snake is also non venomous as other rat snakes. The corn snake is classified into two sub species. The other one is the Great Plains rat snake also found in United States extending from the region of Nebraska to Texas and then within Mexico. The scientific name of this type of corn snake is Elaphe guttata emoryi.
The wild snakes found among the corn snakes are seen to be living in the fields that are overgrown, openings of the forests, trees, palmetto flat woods, etc. The corn snake is generally found on the grounds but still can ascend to the trees, cliffs, elevated surfaces, etc. These wild snakes are found in the south eastern region of USA extending from New Jersey to Florida to the west of Texas.
It has been observed in case f these wild snakes, the corn snake is found to be hibernating during the winter season in the colder regions.
