It has the capability to grow till the length of 42 inches average rate being 28 inches.

The wild snakes of these types can also be tamed very easily without any complications if tackled properly and carefully.
The diet of the Checkered Garter Snake may include the small frogs, small fishes, earthworms, toads and may also choose the fish filet if trained to do so. These fishes never bite but they release a liquid that is smelly on to the body of the Checkered Garter Snake. There are many sub species of the Checkered Garter Snake that are found that may include the Thamnophis marcianus marcianus, Thamnophis marcianus praeocularis, Thamnophis marcianus boyalli.
The size of the Checkered Garter Snake varies just under 4 feet but the average around 2 feet. Checkered Garter Snake are observed to be stinking but after their decorations the smell goes off quickly. There are many people who have adopted them as their pets even after their stinking nature. They are calm by nature or get calmed very quickly and they eat gold fish and hence they are really very easily kept as pets. They eat many other things that may be made available to them as the pets.
